Dranouter Bad is een samenwerking tussen vzw Folkfestival Dranouter en Lions District 112A ( West-en Oost-Vlaanderen) . Op 25 april 2013 werd immers op het strand van De Panne voor de 4e jaar op rij een muziek-en belevingsfestival georganiseerd voor mensen met een beperking uit heel Vlaanderen.
Samenwerking Lions – Dranouter Bad
Vzw Folfestival Dranouter brengt haar expertise in op het vlak van engageren van artiesten en zangers en de logistieke organisatie van het festival zelf. Lions District 112A steunt met gratis manpower tijdens het festival en financiële middelen . Lions heeft bevoorrechte contacten met diverse homes voor mensen met een beperking, en moedigt de bewoners aan om deel te nemen. Zo’n 2500 mensen met een beperking en hun begeleiders waren dit jaar aanwezig op dit festival. Het was een zonovergoten editie, zodat het festival meteen ook een dagje-uit-aan-zee werd !
Lions sensibiliseren
Een team Lionsleden sensibiliseert de clubs om te participeren in Dranouter Bad. In ruil voor een bijdrage van minimaal EUR 1250 ontvangen zij 25 entreekaarten die ze kunnen schenken aan de bewoners van een instelling. Bovendien kunnen zij een pakket extra kaarten aankopen. Lions is zo ‘de’ hoofdsponsor geworden van dit event. Bijna alle Westvlaamse clubs participeren. De overheid betoelaagt dit bijna niet. De lionsleden zijn massaal aanwezig , samen met de festivalgangers. Dit is inclusie in de praktijk.
Ambiance verzekerd.
De sfeer op het festival is hartelijk . Er zijn niet enkel de optredens, maar ook straattheater, workshops georganiseerd door een aantal scholen uit Ieper, Kortrijk, Brugge, Kortemark en Veurne. De gemeente De Panne faciliteert administratief en stelt het strand ter beschikking. En uiteraard kan op zo’n kermis het uitgebreid aanbod aan friet- , wafel- en suikerspinstands niet ontbreken. !

Op de conventie verzamelen de lions van het District West- en Oost-Vlaanderen ( = District 112A ) om een evaluatie te maken van het voorbije werkjaar, om een aantal technische aspecten ( oa de rekeningen en het budget ) goed te keuren, een nieuwe voorzitter te verkiezen en om de verschillende programma’s te presenteren.
Het is vooral een aangename meet-and-greet in de thuisstad van de gouverneur. Vandaar dat de conventie dit voorjaar plaats greep in Waregem, waar gouverneur Hugo Delbeke lid is van de lokale club;
Burgemeester Kurt Vanryckeghem was niet weinig fier om ca 270 genodigden in zijn stadhuis te ontvangen.

Tijd om lionszaken te behandelen. De verslagen worden in een vlotte interviewstijl geleid door Lieven Verstraete, vast anker en boegbeeld van “Ter Zake” op Canvas. . Peter De Poorter secretaris-generaal , behandelde het ledenaantal;
Penningmeester Alain bracht de resultatenrekening en balans van het werkjaar 2011-2012 en het budget voor 2013-2014. De rekeningen en de uitleg waren overtuigend, de vragen dus schaars. Alle cijfers werden goedgekeurd en decharge werd gegeven aan de betrokkenen.
Caroline Vanwynsberghe ( LC Oostende BO4) als gouverneur-elect , Roland De Paepe ( LC Gent Scaldis) als 1ste vice-gouverneur en André Goethals ( LC Kortrijk ) als 2de vice-gouverneur: allen werden met overdonderend resultaat én dito applaus bevestigd/ verkozen in hun functies.
De dames van Lionsclub Oostende BO4 poseren trots met hun gouverneur 2013-14 Caroline Vanwynsberghe.
Het thema van de gouverneur, “ Inclusief denken is lionsdenken “ werd door Filiep Loosveldt, projectleider, uitvoerig toegelicht.
Prijzen worden uitgedeeld aan de winnaars : voor “Fotocontest” aan Freddy Denys uit LC Knokke, aan Liza Ongeval voor LC Ronse-Renaix voor de Vredesposterwedstrijd
De “Young Ambassador Award” viel en Sean Singleton ( LC Gent), Margot Lamote ( LC Oostende BO4) en Maxime Strobbe (LC St Niklaas City) in de prijzen. Boeiend interview door Lieven Verstraete .
Youth Ambassador Award is een Lionsprogramma dat jongeren ( 17-19 jaar) die zich met een positief maatschappelijk en/of sociaal project verdienstelijk maken, in de kijker plaatst.

Representatives from SMiLE (Social Media in Lions Europe) will be there to give attendees hands-on assistance using these popular social media tools. Savvy social media users can post from the lounge, too!
Lions Clubs International Foundation Booth
Be sure to stop by the LCIF booth to learn more about LCIF’s initiatives and how the Foundation can help your club or district further its humanitarian service goals. Staff members will be on hand to answer questions about donating to LCIF and the grant application process. Donations will be accepted in U.S. dollars and euros.
Lions Clubs International Special Olympics Opening Eyes Screening
Celebrate more than 10 years of the successful partnership by witnessing this program in action. Special Olympics athletes will be screened during this demonstration event and information will be provided on how to get involved with this program. You can even volunteer your time during the screening. LCIF Chairperson Wing-Kun Tam will make an appearance at the event and speak on behalf of LCIF.
Strides: Lions Dance for Diabetes Awareness
Friday, July 5, 1:30-3 p.m.
Lions, get ready to dance! “Come as you are” and participate in the Strides: Lions Dance for Diabetes Awareness event. Help promote the benefits of healthy exercise for prevention and control of diabetes. Enjoy dancing to live music selections performed by the German Lions Symphony Orchestra, comprised of 40 Lions and conducted by Gregor Schmitt-Bohn. Participants will receive a Strides pin and certificate of participation.
LCIF Reception/Melvin Jones Fellowship Pinning Ceremony

Donors who contribute US$1,000 to become Melvin Jones Fellows or the next level of the Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow program during the convention will be presented with their pins by LCIF Chairperson Wing-Kun Tam.
Leo Lion Summit (TICKETS REQUIRED)

Orkester Norden Performance

Founded in 1993, Orkester Norden is a summer symphony orchestra consisting of young music students from the conservatories in the Nordic and Baltic countries (Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania).
